    Folder with locker icon


    Hi friends! I have a doubt. I have an personal folder with a locker icon on it. What is it?

    whats the name of the folder? who own it? (you can check on the owner b right clicking the folder and goto properties, security.

    The folder is a game server, name SRCDS. This folder was copied from my Windows XP D: and put it on C: on Seven...

    Hey Jackel

    The oriblem is that the folder doesn't know your the same user. when you copied it from xp the owner is still in xp. to correct it you need to "take ownership" of the folder. Its a pretty easy proceedure. there is a tutorial on how to here https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-shortcut.html. If you need help let us know

    I got the ownership to my user, but the lock icon still...strange...

    According to technet. This is a new feature of Windows 7. If a folder's ownership is SYSTEM, the icon appears. Have you also changed the permissions also? This may help
    Change the permissions and take ownership of your files and folders | Windows Vista for Beginners
    Trying giving users modify permission to the folder. Its seams to do it to to me when Authenticated Users and Users don't have permission to the folder.

    One way to get rid of it seems to be to add everyone to the share with list (if its not already there), then use advanced sharing to un share it and the lock goes away.

    I'm already got ownership of the folder and take total control to my user(admin user) but still the same..

    Did you follow the instructions in the vista thread for taking ownership?
