    Lost desktop icons

I used to have an arrow on the bottom right hand corner that when I clicked on it, all my desktop icons would show up. I no longer have that and don't know how to get it back. It was so convenient. I have an arrow there and it says customize, but desktop icons is not a choice. I think I might have changed a setting while trying to get my computer performance better. Can anyone help?

You may have disabled your Show Desktop Icons button. Take a look at these tutorials for some help:

How to Use ‘Show Desktop’ in Windows 7
How to Create a ‘Show Desktop’ Shortcut on Taskbar
How to Add or Remove ‘Show Desktop’ Taskbar Button in Windows 7

If none of the tutorials help, you may have to change back the setting that created the problem --- if you can remember what it was. If not, you can always do a System Restore to a restore point just before you changed your setting(s).

Just realized it is showing a lot more than my desktop icons. It is showing Libraries, computer, control panel, etc. It didn't do this before. How do I get rid of these? I just want what is on my desktop and those are not. Thanks.

It didn't work. I still have all the icons even though I unchecked all of them. Any other ideas?
