Upgrading to 64bit How do I keep existing user Data and Profiles

    Hi,
I'm about to do a destructive install to Win 7 64bit, to upgrade my existing Win 7 32bit installation. I already have a partition in my hard disk ( K: ) where existing User profiles/data are stored. Luckily there is only my profile and one for a guest user. I've read through some of the Tutorials on this site on how to create new users on a different drive/partition at the point of installing Win 7, and I've read how to change the User Folder Name of a profile.
The fear I have is that the newname user in the 64bit will obliterate the oldname at the point of being used for the first time.

Has anybody here successfully upgraded from 32bit to 64 in Win 7 and managed to retain a good proportion of the data/profile that they had in the 32bit. I accept that when re-installing software the data stored in the Program Data hierarchy will need to be overwritten.

    Hi,

Its not possible to upgrade form 32 to 64 bit - you have to do a fresh install.

OK maybe my terminology was incorrect, and I've specified my existing OS better (Win 7 32bit). But I'm still needing anybody's experience with saving their existing User settings from another partition.
