I want to install the OS onto a new HDD (no OS disc was supplied)
Right, I bought an HP Pavilion p6565uk from morgan computers for a reasonable price. They listed it as 'new', but on the box it came in it looked like it was an HP Gold renew.
Anyway, no Windows 7 disc came with it. I wasn't particularly surprised, as the laptop (Acer laptop from a 3rd party online retailer) my mother bought ages ago didn't come with a Vista disc, so I guessed this was par-for-the-course.
The 1TB internal HDD does have a 11.7GB HP Recovery partition (with 1.43GB free), visibly containing a tiny 'Recovery File Folder', and I'm fairly sure I've seen recovery options in the BIOS.
(the background stuff, reading it isn't crucial)
I am planning on buying a 2TB 7200RPM SATA WD Caviar Black (once I have the money after all these years of cheap IDE drives, the prices of SATA drives came as a shock to me ) and I guess the best way for me to utilise it would be to use that as a secondary HDD for 'data' (being media, such as iTunes library, Revision3/TWiT podcasts, TV shows etc.), as the Movie and TV folders on my PC at the moment are 206GB (on a 1TB HDD. I currently 'only' have 45GB free space, and the 206GB space taken up would be a lot larger if I actually put my main library of media (for example, 50 or so 720p Diggnation episodes) on the internal HDD.
(end of background stuff)
Anyway, usual background information done...
What if I decide I want to install Windows 7 (Home Premium) onto the 2TB drive instead for the benefit of complaining programs that demand C: (from my experience) such as iTunes and Steam. There is a typical Microsoft/OEM CoA sticker on the side of the computer, but that's about all there is. So, what would I do? Would I somehow be able to install Windows 7 onto the future 2TB drive, or will I be stuck with the OS staying on the 1TB drive?
(also, apologies for the poor thread title, I couldn't really think of how to describe the predicament)
