boottmac.DLL
I'm getting this message on start up.
The specified module could not be found
C:\users\owner\AppData\Local\Temp\boottmac.DLL
The 2 tt's are in the message.
Toshiba laptop, windows 7
A search of the internet results in nothing to be found for boottmac.DLL; however, a search for bootmac.DLL suggest that it may be a virus. My virus software discloses no virus.
When I click on the message it goes away and doesn't seem to cause any operating problems. However, when I try to download software called convention card editor by Lee Edwards, the system hangs and I have to use ctrl alt delete. I think this may be related to the boottmac problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks. Jim

That's the first time I've ever seen that, although that doesn't mean much. Assuming you've scanned the machine online, it might be useful to use the Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper to scan the machine offline (it creates a bootable disc or USB key to boot to) to verify that the machine is indeed clean.

If the file was located in a temp folder it may have already been deleted, but there is instructions to load the thing somewhere on your system. Use MSCONFIG to find out where the file reference is and remove that instruction. The code might be in your registry, or (unlikely) even in your Program Menu, Startup folder.
It's unlikely that any legitimate program would write a library file to your temp folder...

PS: Are you familiar with CCleaner? That program would fix the registry reference. Otherwise you could edit out the statement yourself. It's likely the culprit is located in the registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
