    RAR Files

I received several of these .rar files which contain fotos. They won't open on W7 so I downloaded a pgm 7-zip which is supposed to work but I can't get it to function.

What is the best way to handle these files.

    Thanks

Winrar is the proper tool for the job, the trial will unpack the files for you - WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

I use 7-zip without any issues.

WinRAR is another similar program that can unpack RAR files.

Did you try right-clicking the file?

    IZArc

I use IZArc for all compressed files (compacting and extracting). :)

I have an old trial version of WinZip that never insists that I buy the program and I use it successfully to handle zip files but it doesn't seem to support rar files. I have downloaded a 700mb file that is split into 37 rar files. Is there a version of WinRar that can be used for free?

I personally use WinRAR, but if that fails 7-Zip.

    Do you have a 32 (x86) or 64 (x64) bit computer?

Go to Control Panel and then System and it should say under System Type.

    http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar41b3.exe - 32 Bit (x86)
    http://www.rarlab.com/rar/winrar-x64-41b3.exe - 64 Bit (x64).

Please note these are Beta's, CNET should have the non-Beta's.
