Dear faceofjoe, I saw your 64 bit link and downloaded it. When I started to run the file it says unknown publisher. Shouldn't the publisher be Microsoft?

WinRAR is a paid application, however you have a trial for 15-30 days and it costs $29 according to the CNET website.

The publisher is not Microsoft, the publisher is RARLab or something, however it is safe and virus-free depending on the RAR files your un-extracting.

They have a free trial WinRAR download and support: Download now
WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

If you're looking for totally free use 7-Zip
look at the above posts and you'll see how to use it.

I have an old trial version of WinZip that never insists that I buy the program and I use it successfully to handle zip files but it doesn't seem to support rar files. I have downloaded a 700mb file that is split into 37 rar files. Is there a version of WinRar that can be used for free?

I do not see anywhere in the posts where they try 7 zip unless I'm missing something.
