    Hidden files greyed out


    Hello

    For some reason lots of my photographs suddenly dissappeared and I have just found them by unchecking the 'hidden files' check box. However, although I can now see them again they appear greyed out and I do not understand why. Can anyone please help me to restore them to normal? I did not hide them in the first place so I cannot understand why this has happened!

    Hi, welcome to the forums!

    Select all the files (pay attention to the matching file extension), and go to right-click > Properties
    Now uncheck the 'hidden' field at the bottom

    Thank you for your help, I have done that and they are all back. Why would this have happened in the first place? Is this an error or a problem with windows 7?

    I've never known it happen before, but it is quite easy to check the wrong box if you change any folder attributes.

    It certainly isn't a problem with Windows 7 so you shouldn't worry too much over it.
