Machine keeps asking for password on startup No password exists!

Machine has win7 Ultimate. I recently changed the hard drive. When I went boot, the screen displayed "Enter Password ". This machine has never had a password and I am at a loss as to what is wrong. This machine has previously been running well for over six months. Any HD that I substitute (I've tried four) has the same result.

Did you try just hitting enter?

Also did you try clearing the BIOS password using the jumpers on the MB that are meant to clear the boot/BIOS password?

Hello Delmo, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In addition to the above, if this is to log on to your user account in the log on screen at startup, then you could use the tutorial to set Windows 7 to log on to the user acccount automatically after you have already logged in.

    Log On Automatically at Startup

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

If it is the BIOS password it will not say no os due to the BIOS password is requiered to move on to boot.
