Taskbar Disappears and Reappears- odd behaviour

I wasn't sure which sub forum to put this on so I put this here

yes the taskbar for my Win 7 Home Premium seems to like to disappear and reappear a few seconds later, its been doing that a lot today and whats more, Mozilla seems to just stop responding every now and then as well, although it gets out of it after a few seconds. Plus, when i type for instance, my typing isn't that fast anyway but say I've typed till this full stop here. The display lags behind a bit and its probably only at the world "but..."

Two things happened before this thing started happening: 1) I updated windows (it was a shutdown update thing) 2) I installed a couple of plugin programs for my DAW.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    What's DAW?

The taskbar symptom sounds like Explorer crashing and automatically restarting. If you don't have any windows open when the taskbar vanishes, do you see the desktop icons vanish as well?

I'd suggest uninstalling the plugins temporarily to see if the problem goes away...

If DAW is a digital audio workstation You may need to upgrade your RAM with the new plugins. From your description you're maxing it our. In Start Search, type resmon and tap Enter and look at the memory tab to see how much free RAM you have when this issues appears.

Corazon: Yes the icons do disappear and reappear again so it is IE crashing and coming back.

Britton30: Does the CPU meter gadget suffice? Neither meter was pointing super high when it happened as far as I remember, and it mostly happened when my DAW was closed. The plugins all Require less than 1GB of recommended RAM so...

No, it's not IE that's crashing, it's just Explorer. That's Windows' graphical shell which manages the desktop icons and the taskbar for you.
