Yeah, very cool but inefficient and unergonomic IMNSHO . But if you're looking for entertainment, that's the ticket .

I have tried several different shells and shell enhancers. Object Desktop, HoverDesk, LiteStep et cetera. I always come back to the Windows Classic theme. Not for a lack of horsepower, but for usability. ObjectDock Plus and Fences have found a home in my installed apps, but I don't usually launch them. Fences when I'm doing a lot of research - it helps to "stack papers" on the desktop.

I miss the functionality of the context menu in XP32. I had a tower of commands available.

After trying a bunch of free launchers I ended up paying for True Launch Bar. Works great for me - 90+ apps one click away though 7 taskbar icons. Plus all my cpus & drives graphed. But this is one of those things that is highly personal - you have to get something that works right for how you think & work.

i am looking for simple 3D effects organized by windows.
look at Ubuntu 9.04 3D effects videos at youtube.
i think that effects not alter the efficacy of Ubuntu.

i am wondering if some 3D simple effects will make windows inefficient....

Theres about 5 or so videos in this thread showing just a few of the available Aero addons that beat anything Beryl or Compiz can achieve on Linux

hmmm ive tried alot of those addons. most of them i found detract from the task you are trying to do, they get in the way of productivity. I always used to change everything in windows xp to the way i wanted, but i've found that windows 7 works the way i want.

Oh and OP, i do like the yellow folder icons; partly because they remind me of manilla folders, and partly because they blend in with any customisations you make - blue icons won't match a green aero theme. The neutral manilla colour blends in well.

I agree with Antt.

I can do some flashy cubes and other deformations on my old Thinkpad. I installed the manager for this out of curiosity and haven't used it since then.

Only to show off to people is the only time I turn it back on.

They're folders... and not very old-fashioned IMO. I agree with Antt. They remind me of manila folders and the colors blend well with the Aero theme. It's pretty simple to find your own custom icons, instead of expecting Microsoft to make a new set because you want it.

I also agree with Antt about how add-ons and other customization and themes usually reduce the productivity of my PC. I almost always end up straying back to the clean OS without any add-ons. I like my computer to be clean and look clean. It makes it seem quicker.
