    start up repair problem

When I go to start up repair I just get the black screen+cursor. ALSO, I retried using my Windows 7 Install disc. The same thing happened but this time the window asking me to repair my computer appear (Keyboard type, location, etc.) I pressed next and was also able to get to the page that asked if I wanted to Install or Fix my computer. However, both choices end up not taking me anywhere. For setup, I get Setup is Starting and the circle looping forever. For repairs, I just get the looping circle. The CD also stops spinning at this point.

If anyone has any idea what's going on with my computer, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you!

    Hello hiren.

See if this tutorial helps. I suggest printing it out so you don't miss a step.

Can you enter Safe Mode? If so you could also try running a System File Checker scan. If any damaged or corrupt system files are found run the scan 3 times.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

And there's also a Repair Install. There are several warnings that must be followed.

    Repair Install

SFC and Repair Install should leave your user settings, data, drivers, programs, etc alone.

    Thanks Marsminar.
I had read this manual previously. Problem is I can not go to step 4 shown in the tutorial. I just get blank screen after the windows files are loaded(step 3)- All I see is blank blue screen and a cursor.

I've not encountered what you're describing but it's certainly possible that others have experienced the same or similar circumstances. My gut feeling is you may have no choice but to completely reinstall Windows 7 as well as all of your other programs, etc.

    Clean Install Windows 7

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Let me escalate this up to our "more help" level and see if some other forum members have any ideas. Hang in there, it may take a while for some additional replies.

I had a similar problem that was caused by a faulty memory module.

You might want to carry out a memory test.

Thank you guys for the help.
I'm now running the windows memory diagnostic test- let's see if it helps.
I do not mind reinstalling new windows, but when I try to reinstall, the setup never finishes.

So I really do not know what to do. How can I delete everything?
