    Hello examtot,

You deleting those registry entries is what happened, and why Windows 7 will not start now. Next time, please do not delete registry items if you do not know what they are for to avoid this.

You could do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you deleted everything to hopefully undo and fix this for you.

If you do not have any restore points, then I'm afraid that your only option left will be to reinstall Windows 7.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    That stinks.

If you have a retail Windows 7 copy, then you could do a custom install to have the Windows.old folder with hopefully all of your files from your current installation in it in the new installation afterwards.

If you are going to reinstall the windows again, I suggest you take a backup of all your important data files on an external hard disk.

You can try to download UBCD4WIN bootable CD which will give you a windows on CD environment based on Bart's PE. This is a freeware download. Using this CD you can take a backup of all the needed files on to an external HDD before you format and reinstall your computer.

Users should NOT count on windows.old as a backup method, ever.

If you have unbootable and irreparable Win7 you can copy out your files using install DVD or Repair CD: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console or use Paragon Rescue CD freeware.

Why do you not have System REstore points available when you boot into Win7 DVD Repair console, then click through to Recovery Tools list?

Never turn off System Restore which may be needed to save your installation. In fact I would apportion more HD space so more points stick around longer: System Protection - Change Disk Space Usage

    examtot,

I'm happy that you got it sorted, but yeah it's best to keep good backups to prevent loss of data.

If I were you, I'd create a separate, non-administrator account for myself that I would use on a daily basis. This will help prevent you from doing such catastrophic things in the future.
