Desktop icon labels. Ideas on how to disable?

Yesterday I downloaded ePSXe, a Sony Playstation emulator. Then today, I notice little symbols overlaid on top of some icons on my desktop (image attached). Any ideas on how I would identify the process causing this graphic change?.

In a side note, I did check under the properties of the shortcuts affected, and the icon image preview itself remains unaffected.

Hello Sicnarfj, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This appears to be a issue with your shortcut arrow overlay icon. Unfortunately rebuilding the icon cache will not help with that.

You could try downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below to restore all default associations for shortcuts to see if it may fix this for you.
Default File Type Associations - Restore
If that doesn't help, then you could do a system restore using a restore point dated before you installed ePSXe.

Hope this helps,

Tried the Merge, but to no avail, but the System Restore seems to have done the trick. Turned out to be "Java 6 Update 29"?

No idea, but thank you for the help.
