Some program icon changed to generic icons.

I have just finished updating my Vista x64 Ultimate to Windows 7 x64 Professional. I am in the process of reinstalling all my software and I have observed something usual.

In Vista when I use Control Panel>Programs and Features, most icons represent the installed programs. In Windows 7 many, but not all, are showing a generic icon for programs that Vista recognized correctly.

Is this a known issue or can I do something to get the program icons back?

Hello HDProman, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post a screenshot of this in your Programs and Features window to see if any of the other members here have the same icon displaying as you for the affected programs as well in their Windows 7? :)

I just installed "Focus Magic 3.0", and got the same generic application icon in Windows 7 as you did.

I don't think that there's anything that you could do about it though.

You can uninstall the Focus Magic 3.0 to see if the will restore default icons. Then try this: Icon Cache - Rebuild

Also checking the file system may help: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    If no help try this:
    Repair Install

Indeed in Explorer I also have several generic icons, never paid attention before. But as Bongo stated, Revo does display them properly.

EDIT: Revo does not display them all, but a different default installer icon.
