Best way to keep the Windows COA label from getting damaged?

On laptop computers the Windows certificate of authenticity is printed on a piece of paper which is attached to the bottom of the device. Unfortunately, the license key gets damaged and you cannot read it.

Is there some way to overcome this problem? Is there some kind of laminate plastic that can be used to cover the paper?

    Thanks,

    TC

Always back these up like you would a bank account number, perhaps in the same place.

I usually take a close up photo of my COA stickers but all the above will work also.

Slap a piece of clear packing tape over it, and of course, simply write it down somewhere safe.

FWIW: I usually place my laptops on the glass of a copy machine and copy all the data from the bottom. This way I have all the product numbers, serial number and coa available as I put that in the box I received my laptop in along with my receipt for the purchase. Helps when you get ready to either sell it or trade..

I have all my product keys, serial numbers and passwords saved on an encrypted USB flash drive.

As for the COA sticker, just cover it with clear Sellotape, although I do like Rich's idea a lot.

I took a digital photo in macro mode and saved it as an image on my system and backup HDD.

I have also created a log file containing all the data about my computer since I purchased, and update this file whenever I do major upgrades in the hardware or software including the date as well.

let's not forget about some software COA recovery tools out there. Great if you all ready have your COA label worn off and need to get a copy of it.

Product key by Norisoft, Belarc Advisor are both quite good and free.
