    Windows 7 Starter SP1 update Error 800B0100

Hi, I seem to have errors installing the SP1 ( Win 7 SP1 Error 800B0100) as others, as yet I have not been successful.

I ran the system update readiness tool, it told me KB947821 was installed.

So far I have not found a way to do this update.

Can anybody advise where I go from here?

    Thanks

    Saly

If you receive the Windows Update error 800b0100, it means that a file needed by Windows Update is not registered with Windows correctly. The System Update Readiness Tool can correct some conditions that cause this error.

I'm sorry, didn't see that you already said you tried the tool.

BTW, I forgot to welcome you to SF. Welcome! XD

Anyway, try deleting the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.

To do that, you need to stop the Automatic Updates service first. And to do that, open an elevated command prompt.

    In the command prompt, type
    Code:
    sc stop wuauserv
Wait for it, then browse to C:\Windows. From here on, I would suggest just naming SoftwareDistribution to another name like SoftwareDistribution(BACKUP) so that if anything goes wrong (it shouldn't), you'll have a backup.

Restart and try running Windows Update again.

After typing "sc stop wuauserv", try typing in "sc stop bits" too.

If it still fails you might want to do in in Safe Mode

    Windows 7 Starter SP1 update Error 800B0100

    Dear arkhi

First of all I must thank you for your concern and assistance from start. Finally I manage to change directory name C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution(BACKUP) in safe mode as you instructed and install WINDOWS 7 SP1.

Further, this method could be recommended to any one who has same error with Windows 7 SP1 update Error 800B0100.

    Thank you again...
