Windows 7 Startup Repair error 0x490, hard shutdown problem
Hello fellow users of Windows 7,
I am having some real trouble with booting up Windows 7. The other day, I was dealing with a virus (or two, or heck, even more, at least System Security 2012 and Privacy Protection, both rogue spyware), and decided to reboot into safe mode. However, maybe it was because I was stupid, I held down the power button as the screen read "Shutting Down..." with the little spinning pinwheel thingy. As I turned on the computer, I was dismayed to find that Windows said the following:
When I attempt what the above recommends (because my computer is Windows 7 Home Premium, but I only have Windows 7 Ultimate OEM disc, so some features are not available), which is to repair, the System Recover Options dialog successfully found my OS, then I used the built-in Startup Repair program, I get the following:Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and the click "Next".
3. Click "Repair your computer".
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
The most intriguing thing is that, when using third party tools such as a Ubuntu Live CD, I noticed that my Windows drive as well as all of my personal files are still intact. There ARE OS files on the disk after all (maybe some are corrupt/missing, just not all of them). Anyways, I am starting to run out of ideas. Anyone have ideas (all I need to do is get to Safe Mode then I can take it from there)?
