A litte OT, when i am allowed to do that...
there is a way to change the Language even in the Pro edeition of Windows 7, so you can install any language that is supported via the languagepacks:
you open the run, then cmd.exe , for the coommand line.
DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath: (path of the file with the LP)
bcdedit /set {current} locale en-EN (you change it dependig on what language you are installing)
bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-EN (here the same)
then you open regedit end delete the key en-us in the string
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MUI\UILanguages\
you restart the pc and thats all
sorry again for the OT, but i think many users will appriciate this workaround
-------------------------------------------
A bit OT also.
I love the fact the language settings are per user.
I have my own user account in Dutch, and a special SevenForums account in English so I can make screenshots that makes sense to you all.
In that account I didn't do any tweaking so it will correspond with most default user accounts out there.
(fast users switch takes me to the SF account without having to log off from my Dutch account)
Do you guys think its possible to try this on a netbook with windows 7 starter?
Ok, this is weird.
I downloaded what I think is the english language pack for Windows 7 64 bit (I have home premium) from here
Vistalizator - change display language in Windows Vista and Windows 7
file name was
windows6.1-kb972813-x64-en-us_483a3e51038f1a369bc5b5cdf5fc32df3ea4ad27.exe
extracted the cab to the c drive and did the dism thing, something happened so looked good
I changed the registry thingy to change the codes from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Language
my values were Default 0809 I assume this is the Swedish (which I don't want), the install language is 041D
I changed these as per this thread to 0409, it did not come back as English, but what looks like Greek!!!! I see I have in UILanguages got sv-SE (Swedish) and now el-GR which must be the greek or something
aarrrghhh!!!!!
Does that mean that I have installed the wrong lp.cab (I clearly clicked "english" on the page at vistalisator, and clearly copied the dism line and registry line exactly as described on page 2 of this thread
please help
PS
I am English, moved to Sweden, still learning the language, would prefer not to have to learn computer speak in Swedish just yet, have bought a new PC to replace laptop and did not even think about this language problem! Assumed it would be a quick control panel setting
speaking of control panel, the bit where you install new languages is still empty if that is relevant or not.
Thought the lp.cab, dism.exe and registry code hack would do the trick but something still not right clearly!
I just wanted to say I fixed it, I dont have email working so can someone tell the guy at the vistalisor site that the download links of the English and Greek exe files that open out into cab files are MIXED UP!!!!
I took a chance on trying the greek link cab file and hey presto, English! I highly recommend using the vistalisor program as well, worked a treat! just point to a lp.cab file, it tells you what language it is, checks file and then you can install it or not
Hey guys,
i found a program, it called Vistalizator.
I have installed Win7 Professional and have searched many hours why i don´t can install other languages.
After i found this topic, i have understand why it´s not possible.
So this Programm LINK makes the change to every language very easy.

Question! Is this not hacking Windows 7 there for not legal?
Same question with Layback Bear, I use above trick or use vistalizator what status of my win 7 prof ? is microsoft still consider it genuine or its turn to not genuine any more ?
