I started my IT career programming an IBM 360 with 48k (yes KB not MB) of genuine ferrite rings none of this modern stuff. Those were the days.

I suddenly feel really young my computer interest started in the 90's when I was really young. I don't remember a time before windows 95 lol.

I'd love to have been around when a pc took up a room, and all of the components were massive! Its just no that satisfying being able to put ram in one handed lol I'd liked to have lifted something the size me into place! *insert satisfying generic movie type clunk sound*

It even had rows of flashing red lights when it was running. Never was sure what they were for.

Lol they are "everythings ok" lights!! pfft my fam just sits there and works lol

Adding more memory was adding a room addition, banls and banks of vacuum tubes, the lights were the computer's output, no monitor. some out put punched card which were read in a card reader, programming was put in in the same way.

No but it did have massive reel to reel tapes and a line printer that spat out masses of paper.

I shall decorate a room in my future house to look like that!! Lol still classes as collecting antiques right!?!
