HP dv9000 no display after installing windows 7

Alright, first I'd like to thank you for your help. I'm having a very frustrating issue with my HP Pavilion dv9010us. I soled it to a friend, and he installed windows 7, I believe it to be the home 32 bit edition. Windows 7 is not compatible with HP dv9000 ?He brought me the computer and told me the monitor wasn't working. So I checked it out... I swear I've tried almost everything, and I'm about to through it out. I've tried using an external display, still didn't work. I need help, I'm really frustrated and growing impatient. Your help is much appreciated, I'm about to QQ .

Have you attempted to boot from a "Live CD" or a Windows 7 install disc. I suspect that the onboard video card has died. Reason is that you cannot get an external display to work. The HP DV9000 series machines are able to be upgraded in some cases. I have a DV9810us that runs just fine with Windows 7 32 bit.

Thanks for your reply man. No I haven't tried booting from a "Live CD". First of all, I wouldn't know what key to press to boot from CD with no display but I will still try that next. Also, should I try re-installing Windows 7, I thought XP might be the best option at the moment. Thanks man.

You can try using a Windows 7 Install disc or even an XP one for that matter. Both should be bootable. This assumes that the first drive in the boot order is the CD/DVD drive.
I do suspect that the problem is more serious and internal to the video-BUT it is worth a try. Remember that the external monitor runs off the internal card and may require setting that you cannot see if the BIOS is not visible.

Alright, thank's man I hope it will boot from cd and give me a display because as it is now, I don't even get a HP splash screen, and it won't even display the bios. I'm downloading windows 7 and windows XP, I'll burn them tmr and let you know if it boots.

I just noticed, I think the computer is restarting it self every 10 seconds, I can tell because all the lights and fans just shut off and turn back on every 10 seconds.

Okay, booting from cd will not work, I've tried taking out the hard drive, didn't even get a splash screen. The computer still restarts every 10 seconds. Absolutely no display. Please help QQ

It looks like gpu issue .I had to do one. You have to re flow the solder under the gpu. if the fan is not cooling the gpu the solder connections on the chip gets loose and you loose display and the computer will do crazy things like starting and shutting down.Was it getting hot before ?? that may be an indication.
