    Change File Description

Hi im wondering if there's a way that i could change the description of a file for example from "zoom player file" to "MPEG4 Video" theres a program that i used one time called Creative Element Power Tools but its not free and ive already used the trial, so if anyone could tell me if theres a another program that i could use or a workaround in windows 7 that would be great.

    Thanks in advance :) .

the only way i know, without downloading additional software, is to use regedit, and search for 'zoom player file' in the H_KEY_CLASSES_ROOT key.

if this makes no sense to you, try this link, but i don;t know if the programs will work in 7, or not...

i am unfamiliar with zoom player, but maybe it has renamed lots of other file types as well...

    hope it helps!

Have you tried going to 'Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations' and change the program for the filetype to something else and then changing it back.

Say from Media Player to Media Center and then back again.

EDIT: just saves messing with the registry if you don't need to. :)
