Windows 7: User Account Control - Preventing Google Chrome Install

As an administrator, I have User Account Control set to "always notify" in Windows 7, but one of my kids (standard user) can still install Google Chrome. Shouldn't this require the administrator password?

Also, UAC does not seem to limit a standard user's ability to Uninstall Programs. Is there a way to restrict that?

Google Chrome was designed not to require administrative privileges to install.

A standard user does not have the ability to uninstall software that is installed for all users. (In Program Files) Without administrative power.

Yes, I understand that is how it is supposed to work. But on my son's computer, he is set as a standard user and he can access (via the Control Panel), the Uninstall command and uninstall programs. I'm trying to change this, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it.

You're son will be able to access "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel, but he will not be able to uninstall any of the listed programs that are installed for all users or for the administrator. If he tries, he will be presented with a UAC prompt asking to provide the administrator's password to approve uninstalling the program first.

If you have Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate installed, then you could use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to set the group policy for all accounts except administrators to essentially block access to "Programs and Features" for his user account.

Since you are only wanting to block him from a specific program (Google Chrome) that's already installed, it may be easier to use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to prevent everyone from being able to run the program's exe file.

FYI It's impossible to turn off Google Updater if you have Chrome installed.

Google Updater is pernicious spyware that builds a profile of you which pastes its ads everywhere you go on the web, as efficiently as any Big Brother nightmare.

Google will not deny that this information remains tied to your IP address and therefore makes all of your web activity traceable. Consider that Google cooperates with the Chinese government to suppress dissent.

The only solution to this is not to install any Google programs and to keep signed out of your Google web apps, especially the search page. This is not an inconvenience if you use Google's search box built stably into any other Web browser.
