    shortcut link problem

Am using Windows 7 32 bit. My brother opened a shortcut link (.lnk) file in Notepad so all links are now opening in Notepad so he deleted Notepad.exe. How can I resolve this problem.
    Thanks in Advance

Not very swift - lol. You can try the sfc /scannow command. Maybe the system file checker can fix it.

Else use Shadow Explorer and retrieve the .exe from an earlier restore point. It is in the system32 folder.

Hello Welkinraja, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could download and merge the lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below to restore the default associations for shortcut files.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

What Wolfgang posted above should help restore the notepad.exe file though.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
