    Computer monitor randomly wakes up

    Hello

I've recently purchased a new LCD monitor and flash pen drive, for my Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 x64 PC. The monitor display was set to power down after 15 minutes using the turn off display settings, but has developed an unwelcome habit of periodically coming back on by itself. I'd welcome any helpful advice on how to possibly solve this problem.

On a side note, I've a very limited knowledge of computers so please explain any advice simply.

    Thanks

    Roy

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Have a look at your power plan settings.

    Power Plan Settings - Change

You can also check in Device Manager that your network adapters' ability to wake your computer is disabled.

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

I only use a basic power plan setting, which as is set to only turn off my monitors display after 15 minutes. I rarely ever put the computer desktop into sleep mode.

Afraid I'm unfamiliar with Device Manager and how to disable network adapters from waking my computer.

The new RunClubSanDisk Bootstrap Module USB flash drive could possibly be waking the monitor, as the problem started around the point of purchase.

Use the Windows + Pause/Break keyboard combination to access Device Manager, expand Network adapters as per the screenshot below.

Oh, I dunno, Wolfgang. There wasn't much in it.

Perhaps it's those euros slowing you down - I'm still using pounds...............

Thanks for the advice, although I'm unfamiliar with "Windows + Pause/Break keyboard combination" but I'll try to access Device Manager Network adapters, and see if it helps resolve the problem.

Press the Windows key next to the Ctrl Key at the same time as pressing the Pause key at the top-right of the keyboard.
