how to configure a search
When I do a search in additional places the search does not limit it's results to what I ask. For instance if I select extract*.mpg it comes back with other results not requested for.

Try using filename:extract*.mpg
that is what I used. extract*.mpg. I get all those other files. Most are mpg but each one a chapter in some file or program. That is why I am asking.
That is what I searched for. "extract*.mpg" You all the other Mpg not of the same name but still an mpg file the extension does not show. Am I reading the wrong thing? looks like he said extract*mpg
Oh, the file name is "extract". I think the search is reading the <*> as a wildcard. try it with out that.
Yes the asterisk is a wild card but the unwanted files are not even close. thanks
In your screenshot you have just searched for "extract*.mpg" - I meant to search for "filename:extract*.mpg" (including the "filename:" part!).
I have no idea why the other files are turning up, but at least this way it's restricting the search to file names only and not any internal data, such as tags and descriptions.
We get too soon old and too late smart. I did not know how to restrict a search to a specific file. That will be valuable info to know. Thank you very much
