Suitable apps are provided by each disk manufacturer. Check their websites or CDs

I don't know about VIsta/Win7, but XP's boot.ini can survive a partiton delete, create, format routine (using the XP setup disk) during a clean install.

True story.

same as ram. if you don't use virtual memory, and you have to restart the same error will come up. Need to switch off and let the memory discharge.

I haven't tried this but maybe just delete the current boot entry using EasyBCD and reboot, the OS should try to repair itself and hopefully it will restore the correct boot loader.

As I said I never tried it and it's only an idea so do it at your own risk.

Yeah I'm having this same exact problem also. It's on an asus cs5110 and it's the only computer out of the 5 that I've put windows 7 on that is having this issue. I did a clean install and even after that I had the problem so I tried completely wiping the drive and total reformat and I'm still getting that bar from vista startup instead of the new windows 7 startup animation. Other than that, it works fine. Can it somehow be in the bios or something weird like that? The bios is AMI version 1201 build date 10/31/08. I'm also using win 7 home premium direct from technet. It's not a big deal, but annoying since I don't know what's causing it.
