Upgrade not genuine windows xp to genuine windows 7.

    Hello,
Im in a trouble, so im hoping that you will help me.
I had a genuine windows 7 for a laptop a while ago, then i sent the laptop to my parents in a different country.
So i bought a new pc, without a operating system, driven by a lack of money i downloaded the old not genuine xp. Along came problems, unknown errors, bugs, etc.
Like for example, now i cannot start safe mode, i cannot make a new partition thru cmd or partition magic cause of somekind of file xmnt.exe is missing.
Sadly, i want to keep my bought games and programs, 'cause my internet is pretty slow, so it will take for ages to redownload/reinstall everything.

The question is: Can i upgrade my not genuine windows xp to windows 7 by buying it and installing like it's a common program keeping all of the programs/games/etc.?

    Thank you in advance.

Sadly if you are looking to regain stability your best bet would be a fresh install of windows 7
Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

as outlined there you can do a fresh install with the upgrade disc, this would result in the loss of your games and programs, though do a straight upgrade from xp to win 7 without cleaning out the garbage is just going to make win 7 run horribly too.

    That's bad.
I really didn't want to go again thru the downloading of the 14-18GB games with 300kb/s.
+ If i buy the full not upgrade version of windows 7, it's gonna be even more expensive as it is now.
    180dollars, sheesh.

NO, you need to buy the full version of windows 7 & do a full reinstall of all software.

If the Windows 7 is already running on another PC, your key will be invalidated if you try to re-use it. You can't do a direct upgrade from XP, it has to be a Custom install. The same as a fresh install. you can do a full new install with an upgrade disk which you can buy for less.

Yeah, i'll do the clean install. Bought this - Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, Full Version, Standard License for PC | eBay

Another question: Can i copy my games in a external Hdd and then copy back to new windows 7 system? Will they work without an installing them?

eBay is not a good place to buy Windows or electronics, in my opinion. I hope you get a Genuine Windows DVD, it will have aa hologram logo if it is.

You will have to install your games, copying won't work with any program or game.

That's not entirely true, if they are steam games, he can copy his whole steam folder over to the new install. I've done it before myself.
