Navigating desktop without a keyboard using a remote

Is there a way to mimic the TAB/ESC/SPACEBAR/ENTER keys on a standard Windows Media Center remote control?

Trying to navigate the "Display" portion of my control panel on an HTPC. The monitor is in a separate room AND I don't have a wireless/Blu Tooth keyboard.

Been fiddling with EventGhost but I cannot say I understand it enough to get started.

I now I can type WIN + P to call up the multiple display options. I can scroll through these. However these only allow for:

    - Extend Display
    - Duplicate Display
    - Computer Only
    - Projector Only

I want to drill down into the resolutions options.

    Thanks

While I may not be able to suggest ways and means to mimic those on a standard media center remote, you may perhaps be interested in this. EZ Commander - An innovative I/O solution to replace PC remote/mouse/keyboard/presenter

The easiest way is to buy a $20 wireless mouse and to control the computer from distance.
