Libraries do not exist, not hidden

I am looking for an answer for a niece's computer. It is an HP laptop running win7 home premium.

In the explorer view there is no libraries folder/icon. Only the upper favorites/desktop and icons that are normally right above the libraries folder. Below that is just a plain vanilla icon that says "folders"

When I go into the menus to enable the Libraries the option is nowhere to be found. They appear to just flat not exist on this computer.

I have Googled and searched forums till I have to say I give up, something I am not at all used to saying.

So, if any of you have had this problem and know what I need to do to fix it I would be happy to hear from you!

I will see if that works, but I will have to wait till I see her again. I am always leery of running or doing registry hacks on other people's computers because of Murphy's law. I can do anything to my computer and it works, try it on someone elses and I blue screen it and make things worse. Never have understood that.

I did set this computer up for her a couple years ago, I don't remember if the libraries were there at that time or not.

OK, serious senior moment here. None of the tips seemed to apply to the problem and only after wondering why I could not pin a program to the task bar and a few other things were missing (like the home group) did it finally all start to gel.

    Her computer is running VISTA!!

    God I hate getting older.....

Yes, and proved I am an "id 10 T" in the process. Guess I have been tech supporting too long. Overlook the obvious and go straight for brain surgery.

Don't feel bad though. We all do the same thing. :)
