30 second delay on having a "New folder" appear on desktop

Runnign windows 7 home prem on dell inspiron 14R. I downloaded all drivers from scratch (the Resource CD wouldn't work) after a fresh install of my copy (not dell's) of windows 7 home prem.

For some reason if I make a change to the desktop (add a new folder) it takes about 20 seconds to pop up.

Also I have difficult moving some folders into other folders on teh desktop?

    Any ideas? Thanks.

Does Event Viewer have anything that might point out the issue?

Any errors or warnings when you put a new folder on the desktop? Does everything else seem to be working besides the desktop?

This link in an old thread points to a possible solution: Creating New Folder - Very Long Wait Time

But, before you try that I need to ask if you ran Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update to check, and make sure the fresh install of your copy is up to date?

If not, it is possible that, that stability and reliability update is missing along with other updates.

Please elaborate on "I downloaded all drivers from scratch" - Windows 7 has its own very comprehensive driver database; what it doesn't find during the installation, it will download online as soon as it can.

Exactly what drivers did you download and how did you install them?

As for the 30-second delay issue, I once had a similar problem, particularly with new files or folders on my desktop.
I found out that this was happening because I had disabled the Application Experience service. It's now set to "manual" instead of "disabled" and that solved my issue.
