    It worked

As per instructed, opened computer and draged it to computer. Refresed and it worked.
For some people the recent places didn't show in computer but for me it was showing so i just randomly left it in computer (where it was not visible)
    Refreshed desktop and AWESOMENESS!
    Thank you sir!

    Thank You JacquelineB

I followed your steps and this worked like a charm. Thanks so much. I have only three icons on my desktop and this "new" icon had me perplexed and not happy. Your clear directions have made me smile again.

How I removed the 'Recent Places' Icon from the desktop

I sat down at my computer this morning, and "all of a sudden" had an icon on the desktop for 'Recent Places'. I could not delete it, move it to the Recycle Bin, etc (as previously described in this thread). I tried all of the above mentioned methods to no avail. I finally right-clicked and 'Send To' desktop as shortcut. I then deleted the shortcut and viola! The icon was gone. Hope this helps anyone out there having this same issue

Thank you draging it to favorites worked. the only thing it did was create a copy, that was then deleted.
    Thanks

Thanks to this thread. Finally got rid of it.

Now the question is how do you get recent places not to be listed there?

    Thanks in advance.
