Asus Laptop won't display higher than 1024x768

If you had better resolution before then you might get it back by following joodoo's idea of rolling back the driver on Driver tab of the installed device in Device Manager.

As to what might have changed it, the first suspect would be AVG bloatware. No one here recommends AVG since it bloated up a few years back and causes problems. Use Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast 6 for best performance with the Win7 firewall.

Haven't really gotten a chance to try any of these solutions just yet as I'm still at work so didn't read every reply all the way yet. Will when I get home. Thanks for the advice.

My problem is now fixed. Thanks for all of your help. I had to download the latest chipset driver from Asus and now my screen resolution is back to 1368x766 and everything looks normal in 16x9. I also uninstalled AVG and downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials. I've learned a lot of stuff from this board.
