Installed 7 Home update on a second computer, stumped.

Hi, I recently bought a laptop from ebay that had XP on it. I got it because my old HP laptop is so old and screwed up it won't even turn on anymore. It has my windows 7 update on it. I'll confess i didn't read the licensing agreement, and i went straight to calling Microsoft to let me know what i should do. Now i don't think they really knew what they were doing, because the guy led me through the whole install, and actually installed 7 himself on to my new laptop. I had actually called microsoft to get a replacement key because of this situation, which i heard was possible for unique scenarios for $10. I don't think they understood what i was asking. Regardless, I assumed the key would not work because it was used on another computer before.

Of course, I immediately went online because i was certain what i just did was illegal when i thought about it. So, my previous that laptop that had 7 on it is pretty much completely dead and will not turn on at all unless on safe mode, so i can't uninstall the OS as far as i know. So what the heck do I do now. What are the chances MS finds out, and would they even pursue something like this? Am i over thinking it?

You will be fine. A retail copy of Windows can be installed on one PC at a time and since your old PC is dead there is no problem running your copy of Windows on your new PC.

So basically as long as i never use that computer again, they won't get pissed? And if i take it to a shop or something and get it fixed just immediately revert it to XP.
