Circle suddenly appears and clicks on location

    Hi,

    I am running 7 Professional 32 bit w/ SP1.

I purchased a Dell Latitude 2120 used a few weeks ago and it's great except...

All of a sudden, a circle will appear on my screen (seemingly in the same place every time) and will "click" where it is without any input via mouse or touchpad.

For some reason, it seems to always appear over one of my bookmarks and it happens without warning. It just appears and in a second it clicks on my facebook bookmark, and whatever I'm doing in my browser (Chrome Version 51.0.2704.103 m) is lost as it loads facebook.

I have a touchpad and a touchscreen, but I don't think I'm doing anything to make this happen.

It doesn't always happen. It could be hours in between or it could be minutes.

I've never seen anything like this. I don't think I can disable my touchpad (I don't think you can do that on this model). I thought maybe I was bumping the touchpad while typing.

I've only tried the touch screen a couple of times. I'm going to see if I can disable that and see if it still appears.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Chris

Did you purchase the machine from a reputable dealer? There is a possibility the machine is "owned" by someone else or if not basically the left click button is sticking and making contact when it should not. If I were you and the machine were mine I would wipe it and reinstall Windows 7 from a known good copy. You can find tutorials on here to guide you through the process.

    Thank you, Indianatone.

I did purchase it through a reputable dealer, but it did not come with a Windows disc.

It's possibly the weirdist think I've ever seen a pc do.

I'm going to try to get a screenshot when it happens again.

I don't know if it is a hardware or software problem.

I thought it might be the touchpad, but there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it, so I can't test out that theory.

    That's why I'm here; I'm hoping it's a software thing.
