Called Microsoft today with the same problem. The Tech tried reinstalling the driver for the monitor and it still didn’t work He told me to call back when I got the disk for the Monitor. I started thinking went to screen resolution changed the setting and now it works easy fix.

This is what i did and so far it's working fine:
    1) create new user account
    2) back up your stuff (not necessary but just in case, also if you have bookmarks, passwords, etc.)
    3) log of account that is giving you trouble (don't switch users!!!!!!)
    4) log on to new account
    5) go to start> control panel> user accounts and family safety> add or remove user accounts> select the account you are having problems with> delete account> keep files> ok...and wait....

all of your files will be backed up on the desktop of your new account in a folder called <insert old account name here>. so far i have had no problems, but even if they do start up again, it's not that hard to do this again.

    Same problem

I just bought a PC Windows 7, 64-bit and Japanese OS. I put Ultimate on so that it could be read in English. Everything is great BUT exactly the same problem as you guys are dealing with. Did you find a solution?

I'm in Japan and Microsoft in Japan found your site as this is the first time they have heard of it. They did say to use recovery but after reading what you all wrote, I don't want to. Especially as all of the recovery will be in Japanese. The only other issue is trying to get drivers for, eg. my printer, that is in English. The Printer has a US driver but when it downloads to me, it changes. That's another issue and I am trying to resolve this.

Anyway, has anyone helped you? The PC was so expensive.

Japans Microsoft basically said do a clean boot. I tried this and I thought as I added more and more Services/startup I was going well and I thought it was only selecting all so "normal startup" but then the next day, same problem.

Yes, they should treat this as a bug!

Mine PC doesn't stay black for a few seconds nor 10 minutes. Does Microsoft see this?
