    How do I know what application I should let run in the startup?

    The only one you need is the AV program. All the rest you can disable. They will be started when needed.

    If you think that you'd like to have a few others started anyhow, you can always schedule them for a delayed start - e.g. 2 minutes later. Then they do not interfere with the system boot.

    AV=anti virus which should alway boot with your system.
    Microsoft Security Client is you anti virus program.
