MS is ubiquitous - it is their goal, it is their accomplished task. Bullocks to anyone who argues otherwise.

Not directly related, but obliquely on point - A few generations ago, Coca-Cola designed the infamous green Coke bottle to be uniquely identifiable - even it was shattered. They wanted you to know that they were everywhere, and everywhere, people drink Coke.

Windows (distribution) is a lot like crack. You might have to steal it at times, but you will keep coming back.
lmao very very true...like I said in a post above they honestly don't care...but they keep an Insurance Policy to protect their a@@ if necessary

Ok chaps thanks for the debate in relation to what is correct or incorrect in regards to Technet but to get back to the reasons for the original post I started could someone please read the odd 3 posts or so that I made on first and second pages of this request and give me some information that I was actually asking for as I only have a very small window left to take up this offer and could do with some clariffication.

Thanks in advance.........

Buy the online subscription, using the coupon for $100 off (it now changes to a 25% off, not as much of a savings, but close) and get it for the download. Don't buy packages from anyone else - buy it from M$ directly. Trust me on this - the number of OS, products, and keys you get alone are more than worth it....

Listen to John, He is right it is better to get it from Microsoft then some other place, just trust us on this one.

Asked and answered. For a more detailed response, please provide links or a detailed description of the offers considered.

Also one other question, if I was to buy the same package from a US based company selling same product for $190, what are the implecations of using a US based subscription in the UK?

A legal question - check the foregoing debate as an example of the prudence of asking that question here.

Yes point taken. Thanks for the help.

Oh and as an example for UK seller: Buy Microsoft TechNet Plus Direct 2006 (Renewal, 1 User) (JT9-00004) :: eCostSoftware.com - UK Software Supplier

still works out a fair bit cheaper that M$ as this is something like 170 inc. VAT. With discount of 25%. I can get from M$ for 175 +Vat at Ireland rate of 21.5%
Hell what happened to UK VAT rate?

Studulike, you suggested that you had applied for BizSpark, and that you likely qualified. I would suggest that if you qualify as a software developer in any way, then you are likely to be accepted into that program (provided you meet the staff and turnover requirements as well).

I found that when I applied I received an email back asking for confirmation of my business (provided Australian business registration details), and confirmation of staffing and turnover. Approval came back a few hours later. The whole process from application to acceptance took less than 48 hours.

If your business will qualify for that, then why buy the technet sub?

That is very fast. I had an email today asking for further information, so sent it back. Not sure I will qualify though as the development side of the buisiness is only just starting out.

We will see.

thanks for the info though. How do you find being registered?

Just checked my email times, as I only applied last week, it was 25 minutes after I sent my response to their query that I got the approval through

Like you, my software side is also very new, having only begun to develop it from the start of the year, but I don't think they are too concerned, after all, the program is designed to help developers get their business off the ground.

Being registered certainly has benefits in the software side of things, and a few other discounts on courses and hosting. I have not needed to test out the technical help side of things yet, so will be interesting to see how that goes.

I design web applications & sites, so getting a full copy of Expression Studio 3 was a bonus.

Overall I think it will be very handy having the subscription for the enxt three years. Best of luck in getting accepted.

Well think I may have been accepted although not sure. I had an email from Microsoft saying that my enrollment was pending and would take upto 3 days to complete. I also had signed up under the network partner with HSBC but turns out after giving them the info they asked for I had the wrong bank account with them so unless i sorted it and changed over in the next few days no good but they said I still qualified under the M$ requirements so would here from M$ in a few days.

So here's keeping fingers crossed. Would really come in handy.
