Anyone else kind of disappointed?

Overall I am very happy with this os.

One thing I am unsure about is the fact it attempts to install drivers during the installation without asking the user, so we end up not knowing exactly what was installed and what hasn't. I don't know, I just expected it to be a bit smarter, to advice users better on drivers. A lot of people might get inferior performance due to thinking they have all right drivers installed.
    +1

My Nvidia 8600m used a standard MS driver even though on the Nvidia website there was a very recent driver for it which was WHQL certified. Didn't even show up on Windows Update. Hopefully MS will fix this. :)

Even though I can say I'm fully satisfied. My little issue scratches the back of my neck every now and then.

After six years as fry cook and another seven as night crew leader, I have been promoted. What? I can't celebrate?

It seems that my avatar has been modded.

I like my new image. The marketing success of McOpCo and MS are of equal brilliance. Think of me as Ronald McBill.

I have to disagree. For the first time in all my install history - to have an OS install EVERYTHING correctly - before I actually see the desktop - is about as smart as it gets.

And "inferior" performance? Maybe if it's a "performance" rig - it's ever so slightly questionable...but if everything is correctly ID'd and all the right drivers are there - without ever having to install any third party drivers - I will go that route before worrying about performance.

My new Win 7 build is smoking fast - faster than anything else I have ever installed - including super-tweaked XP builds...I cannot complain one bit.

And I certainly vote No to having any sort of OS Q&A asking me if this driver it's about to install is okay or should I reach for some (possible unsupported) third party one..all thata would do is virtually guarantee folks would get themselves into all sorts of driver hell by putting the wrong thing in place.

If you are at all concerned about performance - install all your third party drivers after the main OS install is done....

    Cheers!

I resisted greatly the move from Windows 2000 to XP, until my newer programs would no longer run it. (XP SP2 was out before I changed to it as an indication).

I will be moving immediately from Vista 64 HmP to Win7 64 Ult, when it is released.

I just came back from helping a friend with Vista.

Man am I happy I never installed that **** on any of my machines.

The most stupid UI I ever saw.

Every thing is where you would least expect it.

Makes me even happier to come home and find my sweet Win7 machines.

PS: I wonder why s h i t would be something to hide from readers eyes?
