    Preparing to configure windows stuck.

I have laptop (asus K50ij) with windows 7 HP (OEM)
I reinstalled windows 7 from asus DVD.. everything was fine activation etc.
Then i checked for updates Windows update took long time but finally it told me to restart pc..
and then PC got stuck at Preparing to configure Windows Please do not turn off your computer..
Waited for long time around 3 hours.
Decided to power off by holding power button.
after that windows update just doesnt worked.. i did system restore.. same problem.
Reintalled windows again (clean install) same problem..
Windows update (takes way too long) and when restarting "Preparing to configure Windows Please do not turn off your computer" is stuck.
anyone have any suggestions because im running out of options here.

I recommend downloading and installing Microsoft's System Updates Readiness Tool.

Either you have a corrupted update or Windows hadn't finished configuring updates before you tried to install some more, I would think.

Download: System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [August 2011] - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Make sure you download the 32-bit version as you have a 32-bit operating system.
