Sadly, this doesn't work for me. I changed it to 16 bit then restarted my computer, then changed it back to 32 bit. I repeated this process twice and nothing happened. Then i tried it some more, still nothing.

This does not work in my case. I repeated the process many time (changing the color of the monitor). And nothing has happened.
Can someone still help keep the search up?

Have you also tried the "standard" way to force Windows to rebuild the icon cache? You enter the following commands in an Administrator command prompt window:

    taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F
    cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local
    del IconCache.db /a
    shutdown /r /t 0

    That doesn't work?

How long have you had this problem? Do you have most icons, no icons, what? You don't have a system restore point prior to when your icon problem started, that you can restore? In a more extreme recovery, do you have a "system image" backup from a working system before your icon problem started that your could restore?

Might be it's finally time for a reinstall from scratch. And maybe think about a regular system/data backup plan?
