WIndows 7 wont start up

Hello everyone new here but my windows 7 wont boot up.

Basically yesterday i brought a internet usb dongle and when trying to intall it, the progress bar wasnt moving so i tried to cancel it but that werent working and it seemed to of froze my laptop completely, tried pressing ctrl alt del but nothing again, after about 5 minutes of this i manually turned my laptop off by holding down the power button.

Now the problem is windows will not boot up now, when doing a normal start up it gets stuck on the first loading screen, safe mode does the loading files bit but after that it just gets stuck on a black screen, i have tried disabling the driver option but no luck, the only one that gets anywhere is the debugger option and this moves through the 3-4 loading screens, which for some reason take about 10 minutes a screen! and then gets stuck on a black screen aswell.

I have tried the start up repair but that cant fix it aswell and i dont think it says what the problem is either, and i started a chkdsk through the command prompt about 6 hours ago and it is still running, currently verifying files (stage 1 of 3) roughly moving up 1 file every 30 seconds or so which cant be right!!

I havent got a windows 7 disc or any sort of boot disk and have no system restore points so im a bit stuck on what to do now!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the quick reply, its still doing a chkdsk but at this rate it literally will take years, its on 5% after 6 hours, something not right there!

Tempted to cancel and try SFC, what does that stand for by the way?

If its a PC, you will have a CMOS Battery on the motherboard, pull it out wait 20 seconds, then put it in again :)

Thanks for the replys, i can have got a laptop so was hoping not to have to open it up etc but will do if i have to.

Just tried running the SFC /SCANNOW but it says there is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. I tried rebooting but it has come up with the same message, nothing seems to be working!!

On laptops, you have to remove the main battery first AND the button cell. The button cell is usually next to the memory modules. There should be a door/cover on the bottom of the laptop to access the memory modules. The button cell battery should be visible near the memory modules. Leave both out for a minute or so then install the button cell first, then the main battery. Plug the AC adapter in and run all fixes and tests while on AC power. Do NOT run chkdsk or sfc scan while on battery power.

I would start looking for your Windows repair disc. You know, the one you made the day you got your laptop.
