wait - how do you get to this disk management drive map you refer to?

You had to do it manually because your machine didn't know what operating systems were installed. the bootmenu on C-drive wasn't accessible. Now it can access bootmenu but couldn't start win7 because bootmenu points to some startsector of your old C-drive. Your win7 disk is not on same startsector because you moved the partition. Because of this it enters recovery environment and performs startup repair.the rebuild did not start Windows 7; i had to run startup repair...although again it did this automatically. on other tries, the o/s never showed up in that window and also, i had to initiate the startup repair manually
PW did fix the "corrupt volume issue". But of course the problem can still reoccur. I'm convinced it's a problem only with your harddrive. Reason is nfts ... hmm no driver or realy culprit listed in eventlog.
What is brand and model of laptop?
Type Disk Management in Start Search Box, maximize window, open Snipping Tool from Start Menu, draw a rectangular snip around the drive map and listings, post back.
What errors does Disk Check find, if any? Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log
(I'm dutch so maybe wrong translated instructions)
- Make a manual "restore point" so you can revert back if needed
- upgrade the driver in device manger. right click on it, upgrade, search on my computer, select "choose for list", select "standard AHCI 1.0 serial ATA control"
- press OK multiple times and reboot
What's the "IDE/ATA ATAPI-controllers" contents in device manager now?
well chkdsk found no problems. one thing that may be of interest is that back in april 2007, when the computer was created, it did find a slew of problems and made corrections. not sure if this matters, since it's so long ago, but i figured i'd mention it. i found it when i did a "find" for "wininit" in the application log.
kaktussoft - translation looks fine, but which one do you want me to update? there are 4 entries.
I think Intel(R) ICH8. But you can see yourself. If the new standard one is in the list then it's fine.
1-delete other 3 drivers in list
2-upgrade ICH8 driver
after upgrading and rebooting the Intel ICH stuff should be gone. Otherwise remove that driver from list.
leave ATA 0 and ATA 1 in the list if they reappear
