New computer: Issues Windows 7 from XP carbonite transfer

First I can do simple tasks, but that is it.

I bought a new computer for the farm, Lenovo 62bit Windows 7, etc.

Had downloaded old machine XP to Carbonite, then reloaded new one.

EVERY picture requires me to take ownership

Cannot open any documents, even if I take ownership

My favorites on IE that transfered do not work and if I save a new favorite, I cannot find it.

    This sucks.

    Help me please.

You downloaded the XP data saved with Carbonite to your new Windows 7 computer, right? Did you download it to a folder somewhere? If so, take ownership of the entire folder rather than file by file.

If not, exactly what did you do?

Not everything is in A folder. It is set up just like the old pc. For instance a folder containing pictures. I can click to open then each individual pic in the folder must be taken ownership over.

Links on internet favorites does not work

Cannot open any Word docs, say I don't have permission.

Did you restore the Carbonite data to the equivalent folders on your Windows 7 setup?

    My Documents to My Documents
    My Pictures to My Pictures
    etc.

If so, then there is a root folder for each, which is My Documents, My Pictures, etc. Take ownership starting there and it should ripple down through anything stored under there.

You may be interested in adding Take Ownership to the right click Context Menu choices. Makes this a lot easier.
