Windows 7: Dragging windows only shows the border! Bug?

08 Jan 2012   #11

Win7Ultimate x64 + x32, Win7Pro x64, XP x32, Win 2003, Ubuntu and OpenIndiana

Showing only the border when dragging windows is a feature that dates back to 1985 and Windows 1.0. Windows didn't support whole window dragging until the mid-1990s (Windows 95-98 era) because older hardware simply wasn't fast enough to move and repaint application windows in real time. I'm amazed this setting is still honored on Aero themes because any hardware capable of running Aero won't need it and any software that requires it most likely won't run anymore.

All the sudden, when I drag a window now, an about 3px thick inverted color border shows up where the window is and it drags that instead of the actual window, then places it. How can I set it so that when I drag a window, it drags the actual window?
