Windows 7: features I'd like to see on future Windows releases

features I'd like to see on future Windows releases

I would like any popup or applet to have some icon in the lower right corner:

An icon for "there is another screen after this one" - fingerpointing rightward or something.

An icon for "an action will occur once you finish this screen". I can't count how many times I'm walking through a succession of screens that I've never used before, wincing after each click of "OK" or "next" hoping no action takes place that I'm not ready for. The Windows System Image is a good example. If you CHANGE the target drive for future backups or system images, it will START a backup once you finished changing the options.

Simple things like that would help immensely.

Maybe even on the first screen of a series having a radio button to specify "simulation only".

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

I may not be understanding you, but if you were going through a process, such as a software install, how would knowing you have two screens left help you understand what you were looking at? If you are doing such a thing, instead of wincing, you should be asking yourself why there are so many screens, and taking the time to read them and know what is being asked.

I'm obviously skipping poorly written installers that ask and confirm things more than necessary.

I am currently perusing the "Turn Windows features on or off" menu and I see I can disable Media Features. This will disable Windows Media Center, Windows DVD Maker and Windows Media Player. When I attempt to disable these features I receive a warning from Windows that "turning off media features...

Features Question - Program & Features
I see where one of the performance enhancements recommended is to disable unneeded "Features" in the Program & Features section of Control Panel. The impact of disabling some of the features is obvious, but in some cases it's not so obvious whether I need to leave a feature installed or not based...
