    Start up problems

Basically all was well, cut the story short, i restarted my computer for an update and now it wont do nothing, just a black screen with a flashing line...tried alot of things wont work, even tried pressing f2 at the start but nothing that would help. I dont have a vista installation disc to try and work from? only idea i have is to put my windows 7 disc in...then change boot order to cd first? Any ideas? I have a acer aspire 6935g?

Have you tried a repair startup option?

You haven't provided enough information for anyone to help you:
Was the restart after an update?
Was this for Vista or Win 7 update?

What OS are you running? Vista or 7, Ultimate or other
How many HDDs do you have?
Which OS is on which partition where?

You need to provide more information.

So, you restarted after installing an update (in Windows 7?) and now you cant boot into Seven?
Does your computer show the boot logo for your Motherboard or manufacturer of the PC (such as Dell or HP)?

We do indeed more information. Though Chuck, make sure you read, you missed one part. Good questions though.

I did read the post quite thoroughly, more than once, and I didn't miss the part: "i restarted my computer for an update", if that's what you mean.
His words gave me an impression that he might have manually booted up with the intent to go online and do an "update".
In which case, it would have been a normal 'cold boot', with a view towards the MBR/bootsector area.
That is also why I specifically used the words "after an update?" to clarify the situation, for myself and others.

I notice that your question also uses "after installing an update..."

To wrap things up (for me), which one part did I miss?

To be fair, soon as i start up i can press f2 which doesnt really help, i cannot get into a login screen or nothing? I was just thinking of putting the disc in and to boot from disk by chaning the boot modes?

I see your point. I could have misinterpreted. I don't know.

Scott, did you install an update and then restart so it could finish, or were you restarting with the intent to update afterward? When you press F2, what comes up? The motherboard menu (BIOS)? Or nothing? And does the Windows come up to load, or does nothing happen at that point?

You NEED to describe EXACTLY what happens.

    Glad you found a solution.

What do you mean about the drivers? Seven has the same and more drivers than Vista....
