    Seemingly random application installations hanging

Hello there. I have had a persistant and very hard to troubleshoot problem on my PC for the last couple of months. Occasionally when trying to install applications, the installer will not progress beyond 0% or takes far too long to do so. When this happens if I close the installer and retry I get an error along the lines of "you already have this installlation open". If I find that process in task manager and close it I can try again, but the same problem will occur.

This does not happen with every program, my guess is it happens to perhaps 10% of programs. There seems to be no link between the installations that it hangs on. I do not have a list of applications that the error occurs on currently although I can see how that would be useful. It does not matter if I am installing to my SSD or HDD, the error has occured on both. So, does anybody have any idea what might be wrong?

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Have a look at this Microsoft Support article and click the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter link, and then choose Run Now.

Troubleshoot problems installing and uninstalling programs on Windows-based computers

It could be the Windows Installer is corrupted and this fix should repair it for you.

See if there is a message code, and compare to below:

The troubleshooter did not find any problems. There are no error codes, installations either do not progress beyond 0% or take a very long time to do so.

For example right now I am trying to install League of Legends. I started the install about 10 minutes ago and it is still sitting at 0%. It is taking up very little memory in the task manager and seemingly won't progress.

Launch an elevated command prompt and type "sfc /scannow" to see if there are any corrupt system files.
