Netdetect error 53

Hi
I am using windows 7 enterprise 64bit version.

A few issues:
My startup is extremely slow - I dont know how to fix this but I think it is related to this netdetect error that i keep getting. My startup takes a few minutes at the logo screen where the windows flag appears.

Once the desktop appears the small icon in the system tray for network connections has a blue circle hovering over the picture of a monitor and plug (for network connections). This does nothing but wait there while windows loads the services and drivers or whatever it does after that has completed the the blue circle turn into a waiting type circle that moves in clockwise direction (just like the usual cursor icon for the mouse when you are waiting for something (but smaller)) This spins around for a few minutes then turns into a red cross - If i immeadiately click on the icon for network connections (to see a list of the available connections) when the red cross appears - nothing pops up (dialog box for network connections) if I reclick on the icon the dialog box pops up.
Okay so now everything is loaded and Im now ready to connect to the internet. I use dialup at the present moment because broadband isnt available in my area. Alright I click the connection to connect to the network, my moden dails and varifys me and Im connected to the network. As soon as I am connect another dialog box pops up, a smallish one called Netdetech - the details appear in the dialog box saying something like "error 53" - no further explanation. At the bottom of the dialog box is only one button I can click, it is OK. I click OK and everything seams fine with my internet access. So its not really preventing me from connecting to the internet but its irritating. If I connect to the internet and the netdetect error dialog box pops up and I have to reconnect for whatever reason (without restrating my computer than the netdetech box does not pop up - it only happens the first time I connect to the internet in a session, ie. a session is the time my computer is on until it is restarted/rebooted.
When I first got windows 7 I was not satisfied with the network connection icon, I was used to the flashing little monitors so I searched the internet and found a small application to install on windows 7 to show the flashing monitors. After a while I got irritated with the flashing monitors and decided to just have the icon that was with windows 7, I uninstalled the application for the flashing monitors and reverted to the windows 7 icon. If I remember correctly the application was called "netdetect" or something similar. Back in those day - about a year ago, I tried reinstalling it incase it did not uninstall properly but it didnt help the situation when I unistalled it for the second time.
I read on the internet somewhere that my user account may be corrupt so Im in the process of trying to recreate a new one. I have 2 user accounts on my computer, 1 for myself with administration rights and 1 for the rest of my family as just a user (no rights) and when I log onto the user account that is not an administrator I see the flashing monitor icon there when connected to the internet. How do I fix this, it seems like system files are corrupt or something.

Dial-up, there are some memories!

You've no need of the network adapter if you're on dial-up, you only need your V92/analog modem... so I would remove the drivers for it and disable it in your board BIOS (assuming you can... or if not then disable the device within Windows Device Manager...)

I'd speak to your ISP about "error 53" as they can advise you in respect of the hardware configuration you need in place.

These steps should increase your boot to desktop performance...
