    Icons disappeared from desktop

After booting my PC today I got an empty desktop without any of my files or shortcuts on it. The taskbar is still there and works perfectly fine, it still shows my wallpaper, and I can even see all of my stuff when I open the desktop in the explorer.

Right-clicking works too, and I can create new folders that way etc., but they too are only visible in the explorer and not on the actual desktop. I also can't draw a marquee on the desktop - not that I need one without anything to select, but maybe you can make something out of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ~

    Hey. Welcome.

Not on a windows 7 machine right now but I *believe* when you right click on your desktop, go to view and tick the "Show Desktop items" button.

Might help if you filled in your system specs, and told us if it is a clean install or upgrade, etc.

    Damnit.

Thanks to tw33k and TGSoldier, somehow I completely overlooked that option. It's still a mystery how that thing got unchecked in the first place, but maybe that has something to with me being stupid too. *caugh*

How to get to Snipping Tool

    TG Soldier,

Here is the path to the Snipping Tool in Win7.

    %windir%\system32\SnippingTool.exe

Hope that helps you get my love toy back!
